Alison is a secondary IT teacher who has worked in International School environments for many years, currently working in an International School in Hong Kong; recently leaving a position in Sydney as an eLearning coordinator at a Catholic boys school. As a mature educationalist Alison is aware of the need to understand and manage the significant shifts in student perceptions of technology in learning environments. Developing a better understanding of educational design methodologies and exposure to current IT ideas such as usability (will it work?), effectiveness (is it enhancing learning?) and satisfaction (is it liked?), is crucial to making teaching and learning more rewarding and effective.
